1. Use an Apple (or good quality) cable
Some cheaper cables only charge and don’t transfer data, so iTunes can’t see your iPhone.
2. Restart both devices and reconnect
Unplug the iPhone.
Restart your iPhone.
Restart your PC.
Open iTunes, then plug the iPhone back in.
Tip: If you just installed iTunes today, give Windows about 20 minutes to finish setting up drivers, then restart your PC and try again.
3. Update iTunes
Older iTunes versions may not recognise newer iPhones.
Open iTunes → Help → Check for Updates.
4. Check Apple’s Mobile Device Support (driver/service)
Press the Windows key → type "Services" → open Services.
Look for Apple Mobile Device Service.
If you see it: right‑click → Restart.
If you don’t see it: reinstall iTunes (reinstalling refreshes these drivers). Download from apple.com/itunes.
5. Try a different USB port
Use a port directly on the back of the PC if possible. Some front ports don’t provide stable power.
6. Show the “Trust this computer” prompt again
On iPhone: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Reset Location & Privacy.
Reconnect the iPhone. You should see the trust question again — choose Trust and enter your passcode.
7. Temporarily turn off VPN or antivirus
Some security software can block the connection. Turn it off briefly, connect your iPhone, then turn it back on.
After each step, open iTunes and check if the iPhone icon appears.
